Butterfly World 2009

February 12, 2009

Oh boy!

We invited Lou and his girlfriend, Terry, to come with us to Butterfly World during the week.

Patrick joked with Terry that it was a play-date for their kids, as Lou is a Canon shooter too.  He, however, has some very nice glass and Patrick hoped I could borrow some. :)

It was so much fun!  As it always is, really.  I ran around, hunting the elusive blue butterfly, who closes his wings when he lands (no, he is not a moth) and is brown on the outside.  Dratted thing.  Still, it was very nice.  Patrick brought a book and benches to enjoy, waiting for the butterflies to land.  This did not happen this time, but he had several sitting next to him on the benches or the trees nearby.

And the lorikeet encounter!  I love them all.  You get your cup of nectar and hold it and they just land on you and crowd around.  Love that.

We found two of my favorite hummingbird, one in each bird room.  They are so tiny, brown with red on the chest, and just adorable.

Gallery from the day.

After we spent many hours chasing butterflies and listening to some of the strangest muzak one will ever hear, we decided it was time for lunch.  To Kyojin we went!  It really is Patrick’s favorite place to go here in Florida, and certainly the best all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants out there, and we have tried several!  It was nice to spend some time with an old friend, and a new friend, and get to know them a little better too!  Especially Terry, since we do not really know her at all. :)
