Seamus Sings Country

August 27, 2008

Oh what a night!

This evening, Patrick and I went to faire site for archery practice with Jim.  I’m not good at it at all, but I wish I were and hope we’re able to set up a target in our new back yard.  Until then, however, I’ll be satisfied shooting while we’re here!  Jim told me I seemed to remember all the basics from last year, so that’s a step in the right direction.  And I only forgot to keep my arm slightly bent three times, so hopefully the bruises won’t be too drastic.

After that, we headed down to Harry Browne’s for Seamus.  Michele’s birthday was today, so it was quite the gathering and celebration!  He’s down to performing only once a month, but he’s decided to create themes for each performance.  This month was Country classics.

It was so cool!  I love his regular shows, hearing his regular songs, but it was so neat to hear him sing songs we’d never heard before.  And the comedy was completely different as well, which is always great.  I wish we wouldn’t have so long to wait for next time, but oh well.

Doug and Phyllis were there; I don’t remember seeing them at all last year.  He mentioned that it’s a lot easier to come just once a month.  Which is true. And it’s more fun when there’s a big crowd, which was part of the reason for cutting back.

After the show, Seamus bought us drinks (well, Patrick… I had water because I was driving…) and we sat around and chatted until around 2am.  And I’ve got an appointment at a temp agency at 8am. Yikes!  But it was well worth it.  He told us stories of when he and his partner, a man named Tom, used to tour when they were young.  I can’t wait to get that book!
